Three-dimensional letters are favorites of clients looking for versatile lobby signs. Because our company can manufacture them using a broad range of materials and techniques, they are the kind of signage that is perfectly customizable. See, for example, our 3D acrylic letters that brand a client’s lobby.

Case Study: The Park Club

The operators of The Park Club were looking for chic lobby signage. They wanted something that visitors to the location would see as soon as they entered the front entrance. The sign had to fit with the interior decor, some of which consisted of contemporary ceiling lights. We were able to not only replicate the design approach of the lights, but we also matched the color palette perfectly.

Our technicians began the project with quarter-inch-thick acrylic. We had already measured the partial wall that would feature the sign and determined that it needed to fit in the upper third without crowding the top of the structure. Taking inspiration from the artistry of the lights, we designed the 3D elements to match. Finally, our installers flush-mounted the pieces to the wall.

When you step back, you see the impressive black letters that are perfectly sized for the wall’s height and width. Moreover, they are immediately visible against the glossy backdrop of the wall. The resulting impression is elegant, chic, and the type of sophistication that Orange County businesses are known for.

Choosing a Material for 3D Lobby Signs

For The Park Club, acrylic was the ideal material. It is paintable and comes in depths of up to an inch. However, some clients prefer something a little different.

  • Metal. Many clients in the OC like the elegance that a metallic finish represents. It can be polished to reflect light or brushed, which creates a matte surface. When working with metal, clients typically prefer to keep a metallic finish, even if it is outside the brand’s color palette.
  • Plastic. Manufactured plastic is an option when you want the 3D aspect of the lettering to pop. Opening the door for rounded edges and prismatic facings, manufactured plastic is a fantastic choice when your corporate persona relies on these style elements for brand recognition.
  • Sign foam. Sign foam is a good option for the client who prefers a more budget-friendly approach. It allows for depths of up to three inches and is fully paintable. Some clients have had excellent success with adding thin metal or acrylic laminates to the faces. It gives the illusion that the letters are made from the more expensive material.
