We discussed the project with the client and spent some time brainstorming. Rost Architects needed a sign that would be an excellent indication of their firm’s brand message. As a result, we had to step away from the types of lobby signs other companies around them might have. Were we able to do it? You bet!
We designed a lobby sign that is seventeen feet long. It occupies the length of an entire wall. Made from aluminum, we painted it in a chic color mix of dark gray and bronze. The lettering consists of white elements. Next, we worked on the installation of the LEDs that would illuminate the structure. At a depth of three inches, the illumination adds a warm white light that perfectly contrasts from the dark exterior.
Although the design looks deceptively simple, it is anything but. Moreover, it provides the space with an impacting presentation of the corporate persona.

- Material selection. Acrylic, aluminum, and PVC are now standard for most lobby sign construction. However, you do not have to limit yourself. Other materials we suggest include Cor-Ten or stainless steel, wood, and glass. Imprinted vinyl is another great choice.
- Size. While you do not want to go small, you do have the option of going large. Envision your reception area with a larger-than-life display. It could take up the entire height and width of a wall.
- Shape considerations. Instead of flat-cut letters, there are also fabricated versions that feature rounded or prismatic fronts. In the case of logo boards, we recommend considering a shape that replicates your logo as opposed to a standard geometric shape.
Of course, adding illumination is always an excellent idea. It catches the attention of anyone in your space. Similarly, it creates a focal point that is difficult to look away from.
